Physics of Dancing

Paper

Powerpoint

Abstract:
Dancing is the oldest form of which people express an idea or emotion. It requires a series of movement that match the speed and rhythm of a piece of music. It also requires the knowledge of physics. This allows teachers the opportunity to teach physics in a motivating way. Physics can be seen in dancing from different perspectives. It can be seen in turns, balance, jumps, etc. Today I’ll be illustrating how physics plays a very important role in dancing.

  1. I really enjoyed how you integrated different types of dances as well as their origin and how you simply integrated the physics behind each form of dance.

  2. This was especially interesting to me to learn the vital role speed plays in dance. I never really undertsand how the inertia didn't allow the object to keep going but your explanation of the vertical component and forces really borke that down and explained it to me well.
